Robert F. MacKinnon (Victoria, Canada) is a retired mathematician whose work has appeared in a number of bridge magazines. He has written two bridge novels, including the remarkable Samurai Bridge, as well as the best-selling (!) Bridge, Probability and Information. He conducts a blog on the mathematics of bridge on www.bridgeblogging.com.

Born in Pakistan, he has homes in London and New York, and now represents the USA in international competition. His tournament success include numerous North American championships and six world championship medals (including a gold in 2009). He writes a regular bridge column in The Guardian and his autobiography, Bridge My Way, as a bestseller on both sides of the Atlantic.

IAN McKINNON is a mathematician, expert bridge player, tournament director, author and computer professional. Through circumstance, around 1970, he started tournament directing at a major bridge club in Sydney which eventually led to him being the senior Tournament Director within the Australian Bridge Federation during the 1970s. He produced his first book, Bridge Directing Complete, in 1979. All those years of experience, and the last ten years of intense research and computer programming, have resulted in this book.

Jeff Meckstroth is one of only eight players in the history of the game to have collected all three jewels in bridge's Triple Crown: the World Open Pairs, the Bermuda Bowl, and the World Teams Olympiad. He has also won literally dozens of North American championship titles. He lives in Tampa, Florida, and his partnership with Eric Rodwell is generally considered to be the world’s best.

Marshall Miles (1926-2013), who was a leading theorist on bidding, authored many books on bridge, including the all-time classic How to Win at Duplicate Bridge. His long and successful playing career includes a World Senior Teams Championship in 2004. He was one of the oldest players to win the World Senior championship and won several North American Championships.
